The first image is of the sticker representing the Tour of Haight Street. The second image is what the sticker looks like when you use the Layar application to make it more interactive for the user.

There are three buttons attached to the sticker allowing the user to access direct links to more information about Haight street. One is a direct link to google maps that starts from Haight and Fillmore and leads up to Haight and Stanyan. I chose those locations because the 10 photos I have a locations along that route.

The second button is the scrolling/ clickable photos. One you click on one of the images it pulls up a google street view of that location making it easy to find.

The third button is a link to the wikipedia page of the history of Haight and Ashbury giving plenty of detailed information on the location.

Layar Assignment 2

Here is the original sign.

The Fine Arts Accessibility Map.

Using the Layar Application I was able to add more information to the the map. There is a direct link to the SFSU disabilities page, a phone number to call, and a link taking you to a informative SFSU webpage on the Assistive listening devices.

It gives you direct options to gather more information without having to look it up yourself.

a) How does the fact that a sign is designed for use with AR affect the decisions that go into its formal composition, layout and deployment?

It gives you the option to alter the poster without taking away from its original design.
b) What does Augmented Reality imply about the new types of relationships people are forming with their environment?

It lets you interact with a sign or a poster giving you more option and resources. For instance the poster had a direct link to the social media site and a phone number.
c) What do these ideas suggest about directions for the future of cities?

Video clips, phone numbers, direct links to more information rather then just listing the website.

Top right is the beginning set up of the game. The top left is what the finished board would look like.

The goal of the game is to get the horses on the other side of the board. Your horse starts on your partners side and you both help one another to get it back to the correct side of the board. The pawns can only move in mirror to your partner and the horses can only mover every other play (so the game doesn’t end too quickly) The mirroring of the pawns can get a little confusing so the partners help one another out to complete the game. All pieces can only move forward and diagnally and there is no taking out the other player.

First experience with LAYAR

The original sign I used was an informational sign above a recycling bin in the student center.

By using the layar application I was able to include more information on recycle. When you hover your phone over the poster while using the layar app it gives you an additional informative video on recycling.

Here is a link to a video showing the application being used.
